Oakland Thrive Restaurant Quest: Salt + Ko in Southfield
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Aug. 5, 2025)
Southfield, MI – The quest to try every restaurant in Oakland County continues with a visit to Salt + Ko, located on the ground level of the beautiful Radisson hotel building in Southfield. Providing an upscale, but still casual, menu and vibe, Salt + Ko could please anyone from traveling executives, to those looking for a romantic night out, or even fun meal with family or friends.
A friend and I enjoyed the cozy seating alongside a giant mural with the restaurant’s name. She had a margarita while I opted for some lemonade while we split an appetizer of Brussels Sprouts topped with bacon, blue cheese, candied pecans, and a drizzle of balsamic. The veggies – which were flash fried – were crispy and plentiful.
For the main course they enjoyed a healthy Roasted Beet Salad, and a side of seasoned French Fries. The salad was made with kale, tomatoes, and blue cheese served with vinaigrette.

I had the Steak Tips, served with peppers, mushrooms, and onions in a seasoned gravy along with triangles of pita bread sprinkled with parmsean. I also had green beans. All of the components showed the chef’s mastery of the seasoning which shares his name.
Items at Salt + Ko are created with fresh, local ingredients when possible. Other menu items include include Ginger Thyme Salmon, Lamb Chops, Ribeye, and Alfredo Pasta. Salt + Ko also has Turkey Chili, Tofu Bites, Calamari, and Chicken Wings.
