Scotia Road in Huntington Woods Closing for Repaving

Huntington Woods, MI – The Scotia road project is coming to an end, but not without one more major inconvenience: for the week of August 4th, Scotia will be completely closed to vehicles and pedestrian traffic. Except for emergency vehicles, no traffic will be allowed at all starting at 7:00 am on Monday, the 4th. This includes bicycles, skateboards, etc.
This means that residents who live on the dead-end streets west of Scotia will need to move their vehicles before Monday, August 4th, at 7:00 am, and they will be unable to re-enter their streets for the entire week. There are suggestions for parking as follows:
Kingston: The City Hall parking lot should be an option.
LaSalle: Borgman west of Scotia, or LaSalle east of Henley
Talbot: Borgman west of Scotia
Elgin: Nadine or Lincoln, west of Scotia
If residents of the dead-end streets choose to park east of Scotia, they will have to cross on foot at Eleven Mile or Vernon. The parking lot for the Gillham Rec Center and the Library will not be accessible, although both facilities will be open as usual. Newport will remain open to local traffic this week.
Everything is dependent on the weather and the cooperation of the public. If everything goes perfectly and the work is done before the week is up, we will immediately open the road.
We regret this unavoidable inconvenience and look forward to the completed road.
Trash collection for the dead-end streets will occur as early as possible on Tuesday, August 5th. Each truck will have one chance to get down the dead end, and if items are missed or out late, they will have to be saved until the next week. Please have all trash, recycling, and yard waste out by 6:00 am (or the night before) to ensure pickup. Chipping of branches will not be possible on the dead ends next week.
