Anita’s Kitchen Closing Lake Orion Location, Focusing on Ferndale and Detroit
(Crystal A. Proxmire, July 13, 2025)
Lake Orion, MI – Anita’s Kitchen in Lake Orion has closed, but the location won’t be empty long. Owner Joe Wegrzyn told Oakland County Times that he was approached by another entity that is bringing “a really great concept” to the space that “the community is going to love.”
Wegrzyn said the offer came at the perfect time as he wants to have a smaller footprint and focus on his locations in Ferndale, Detroit, and Metro Airport. “Lake Orion has been wonderful, but we want to be smaller and keep our operations close,” he said.
Anita’s is known for Lebanese cuisine and smoothies.

A statement posted on Facebook announced the closure, stating:
“To Our Valued Customers in Lake Orion,
After several wonderful years of serving this incredible community, we must share the difficult news that Anita’s Kitchen will be closing our Lake Orion location, effective immediately.
The support we’ve received from our guests and neighbors has been truly humbling. Your loyalty, kindness, and enthusiasm have meant the world to us, and our amazing team has been honored to be a part of this journey.
An opportunity has presented itself that has allowed us to make a thoughtful business decision that aligns with our long term goals. While this means saying goodbye to this location, it’s not goodbye entirely—we would love to welcome you at any of our other locations in Ferndale, Detroit, or at Metro Airport.
It has truly been an honor and a privilege to serve you. From all of us at Anita’s Kitchen, thank you for your continued support.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Anita’s Kitchen”
Wegrzyn declined to share who would be taking over the space in the historic 45 W. Flint Street building, stating that he wanted them to be able to enjoy making the announcement. But it shouldn’t be long before the space is filled with customers again.
