Ten Students Earn Scholarships from Pleasant Ridge Woman’s Club

Pleasant Ridge, MI – The Pleasant Ridge Woman’s Club (PRWC) awarded scholarships to ten outstanding high school seniors on Tuesday evening, June 3, at the 4 Ridge Community Center.
All residing within the boundaries of the Ferndale School District as required, four attended Ferndale High School, two Berkley High School, and one each from Shrine, Bishop Foley, U of D Jesuit, and Royal Oak high schools.
Four special scholarships honoring former members of the PRWC were announced. The first was the annual Margaret Jane Makulski Scholarship which was awarded to Evelyn Meyersieck (Ferndale resident). Three scholarships were funded through the generosity of family and friends of Linda Gostomski. They included Alexis Marie White (Oak Park), Dionne Murry (Oak Park), and Luc Samoray (Pleasant Ridge).
Equally significant scholarship recipients were Lily Bernstein (Pleasant Ridge resident), Lena Hooper (Ferndale), Annie Decoster (Pleasant Ridge) Patrick Scheible (Pleasant Ridge), Harper Stacey (Pleasant Ridge), and Charles Francis (Pleasant Ridge).
A brief overview of the myriad outstanding accomplishments of each student was given as they received their scholarship envelopes. The students and their guests enjoyed sweet treats and punch, as well as lively conversation with each other and members of the Woman’s Club who were anxious to meet them all.
The annual scholarship presentation is funded with proceeds from Club events including the popular Trivia Nights, and from thoughtful contributions made by members of the extended community.
