ROYAL OAK, MI – Fireworks won’t be the only thing lighting up Independence Day week. Royal Oak Taco Fest returns July 3 through July 6, 2025, transforming downtown Royal Oak into a taco lover’s paradise for the event’s fourth year. The deliciously fun-filled street festival will showcase more than 50 of Michigan’s top taco trucks, taquerias and eateries dishing out their specialties alongside live music, DJs and street performers, contests and a lineup of free activities—making it the ultimate family outing with all the fixings.
“This summer’s Taco Fest is turning up the heat with a sizzling mix of tacos, icecold cerveza and top-shelf tequila, all wrapped in a streetparty vibe complete with incredible live music,” said Jon Witz, Royal Oak Taco Fest event producer. “Snag tickets early for an unbeatable $6 advance price and enjoy a full day of high-energy entertainment and activities for all ages. It’s one of the best values of the summer.”
Let’s Taco ‘Bout the Food
Attendees can feast on an incredible range of taco creations and Mexican specialties from over 50 premier taquerias, taco trucks and eateries from the region. They can expect mouthwatering options made with steak, pork, fish, chicken and vegetarian fillings. They also can savor the flavors of summer with festival classics like deep-fried desserts, BBQ and refreshing Italian shaved ice to keep cool.
Highlights of this year’s sensational food truck lineup include newcomers like The Taco Cartel, an up-and-coming new food truck vendor earning rave reviews and Dos Locos Burritos, serving flavor and fun inspired by California’s street cooking fusion. Attendees also can enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine from Mezcal, which brings modern flavors of Mexico with flair; Real Taco Express, loved for its burritos, tortas and quesadillas; Galindo’s, known for serving flavorful tacos and street corn made from the heart; Xav’s Jammin Caribbean, offering island flavors fused with Mexican street style; and Cousins Maine Lobster, serving decadent lobster tacos and quesadillas. The full list of participating food trucks will be released soon.
JARS Cannabis Lounge Returns
Back by popular demand, JARS Cannabis returns to host one of Michigan’s only cannabis retail and consumption experiences at a festival. The JARS Cannabis Lounge offers a designated, 21+ area where guests can explore curated cannabis products in a safe, relaxed setting. Completely separated from the main family and food zones, the lounge provides a comfortable and inclusive environment for adult attendees.
All-New Bull Riding and Nonstop Live Entertainment
Royal Oak Taco Fest will bring nonstop excitement with live entertainment, returning contests and crowd-pleasing fun at every turn. New this year—mechanical bull rides will challenge participants’ grit and balance in a classic showdown of strength and skill. Whether riding for bragging rights or cheering from the sidelines, it’s guaranteed to be a must-see activity.
Other highlights include the return of fan favorites such as Lucha Libre wrestling, taco-eating contests, tequila sampling, artisan vendors and more.
Across three stages, attendees can enjoy more than 50 local music acts spanning rock, R&B, alternative, jazz, country and more, plus some of Detroit’s top DJs will headline one of the stages each night and strolling mariachi performers will fill the streets with traditional Mexican style. A full list of music and entertainment lineups will be announced soon.
New Layout and Kids’ Zone
This year’s Taco Fest debuts an all-new layout. Attendees can catch live music at the Uplifted Stage in Centennial Commons, test their skills on the mechanical bull stationed near City Hall, cheer on Lucha Libre wrestlers ringside in the Farmers Market lot and bring the whole family to the Royal Oak DDA Kids’ Zone, located in a lot by the Royal Oak Courthouse.
Speaking of kids, the fest returns with an array of free, family-friendly activities—inflatables, arts and crafts, face painting and interactive games like a football toss—all designed to keep young taco fans entertained.
