Rochester Hills Gets Grant to Enhance Brooklands Plaza
(City of Rochester Hills, May 22, 2025)
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – The City of Rochester Hills is excited to announce it has been awarded a $756,695 grant through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s (MEDC) Revitalization and Placemaking (RAP) program for the development of the Brooklands Plaza. The grant covers nearly half of the cost of the enhancements.
This crucial investment, part of the $25 million in RAP funding announced statewide by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the MEDC, will be instrumental in developing this new community gathering space.
The Brooklands Plaza, which the City expects to open later this year, will feature a small playground, pathways, bench seating, a calming water feature, community art from the Art on Auburn 2 program and more.
The RAP program, designed to bolster community growth by investing in projects that foster population and tax revenue increases, selected Rochester Hills as one of the 48 communities across Michigan to receive funding in this latest round. This statewide allocation will support approximately 64 projects and leverage over $120 million in total investment in public spaces.
“This grant is a tremendous win for Rochester Hills and a testament to our ongoing commitment to creating vibrant and thriving spaces for our residents and businesses,” said Mayor Bryan K. Barnett. “Having these types of public spaces that are easily accessible along this revitalized corridor is the exact type of project that will attract businesses and improve the overall quality of life for our neighbors in the Brooklands. We deeply appreciate this recognition of our vision and the support through the RAP program.”
