Ferndale Garden Club Announces 2025 Scholarship Winner Lena Hooper

Lena demonstrated clear academic success, earning a 4.0 grade point average while maintaining a course schedule of AP and honors classes.

Lena’s dedication to community service is also exceptional – she volunteered over 140 hours in one year leading activities at the Detroit Zoo, and she was a committed volunteer with the Friends of the Rouge, helping remove invasive plants and trash for all four years of her time at Ferndale High School.

Lena plans to attend Michigan State University this fall, majoring in Environmental Studies with a minor in Plant Biology.

The Ferndale Garden Club has awarded a scholarship to a Ferndale High School senior since 1998. This year the scholarship is for $1000.
