Baby Dies After Early Delivery Caused by Crash, Bloomfield Twp Police Seek Witnesses and Info
Bloomfield Township, MI – On May 10, 2025 at approximately 1:30pm, On May 10, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers from the Bloomfield Township Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash near 2187 S. Telegraph Road, in front of the IHOP restaurant.
The collision involved a black Jeep Grand Cherokee and a white Honda Accord.
Preliminary investigation indicates the Accord was traveling east from a median turn-around when it was broadsided by the northbound Grand Cherokee.
Witnesses reported the Grand Cherokee ran the red traffic signal at the median crossing.
Three occupants were inside the Accord, including a passenger that was 23-weeks pregnant. The passenger was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital. The passenger sustained serious injuries and underwent an emergency delivery at approximately 4:00 p.m.
Tragically, the infant passed away the following day, May 11, 2025.
A child passenger in the Accord was properly secured in a car seat and sustained minor injuries. Both drivers suffered injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
The South Oakland County Crash Investigation Team (SOCCIT) responded to the scene and is assisting with the investigation. This incident remains under active investigation.
