22 Year Old West Bloomfield Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash

Farmington Hills, MI – The Farmington Hills Police Department (FHPD) is investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a car that occurred Monday, May 5 at approximately 3:45 p.m. near the intersection of Northwestern Highway and 14 Mile Road.
FHPD officers and Farmington Hills Fire Department paramedics responded to the area after receiving numerous 911 calls reporting the crash. When officers arrived, they located the motorcycle rider and began to provide first aid until the medics arrived and took over care. Farmington Hills firefighter/paramedics transported the motorcycle rider to Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The motorcycle rider was identified as a 22-year-old male resident of West Bloomfield Township.
The FHPD Traffic Safety Section is actively investigating the circumstances of the crash. Preliminary findings are ongoing; however, excessive speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash. The driver of the car was not injured and is cooperating with investigators.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic loss,” said Chief John Piggott. “As the weather warms and we see an increase in motorcycle activity, we urge all riders to wear helmets, use reflective gear and obey speed limits. Drivers are urged to stay alert, check blind spots and avoid distractions to ensure everyone’s safety.”
