Oxford Middle School Teacher Honored with Art Education Leadership Award
(Artsonia, May 4, 2025)
Oxford, MI – Oxford Middle School art instructor Laura Wilson is the recipient of Artsonia’s 2025 Art Education Leadership Award. The award honors pioneers in the art education community who continuously inspire their peers and engage students.
Wilson’s peers and Artsonia selected her among thousands of instructors as one of 15 national winners of this award.
“It feels really wonderful to be recognized,” Wilson said. “I hope to be an inspiration to others to continue their passion and love for art.”
Wilson is in her fifteenth year as an art instructor. She credits her high school teacher with igniting her interest in art education and her students for continuing to fuel that passion.
“A huge part of my love for art was created by my high school art teacher, who always encouraged me to attend an art college and to keep making art. As a teacher, watching students create art that they feel proud of brings me so much joy. I love teaching students about how we can be inspired by famous artists, nature, and our imagination,” Wilson said.
Wilson is one of thousands of art teachers from over 100 countries around the world who use Artsonia to showcase their student art, crowdsource lesson plans, and help fundraise for their classrooms. Artsonia, the world’s largest online collection of student art with more than 100 million pieces of artwork, allows family and friends of student artists create and purchase organic keepsakes from the student art and then gives back 20 percent of all revenue to the local art classroom.
“Artsonia has been a huge part of my teaching, and I love posting student art into their online art gallery for their families and friends to see. Artsonia is also a great way to earn additional art supplies for the classroom,” Wilson said.
Artsonia’s 2025 Art Education Leadership Award serves to honor the passionate, dedicated instructors who teach their students to create and value art, produce innovative lessons, and perpetually motivate their peers on Artsonia.
“Artsonia strives to offer art educators a platform to inspire one another,” said Jim Meyers, CEO and co-founder of the company. “We could not thrive without the dedication and creativity of teachers like Laura who use their online gallery and lesson plans to motivate others. This Art Education Leadership Award is a way for us to honor the hard-working, passionate people who help our children cherish art and develop their creative side.”
