OC Restaurant Quest: Flights of Fancy in Waterford

Waterford, MI – With a large skylight and walls painted blue with puffy white clouds, Flights of Fancy in Waterford plays on their location near the airport and takes their visitors on an adventure of flavors.
Keeping with the theme, the menu has sections like Mile High Munchies, Flight Plan Pasta, Captains Crops, Cruising Carnivore and Cloud Flatbread.
For my recent trip I started with the Fruit and Feta Flatbread, featuring a feta spread, sliced apple, toasted walnuts, and hot honey. Next up was a PB & J burger topped with crispy bacon, crunchy peanut butter, and a berry compote for a memorable burger experience that paired well with the Sour Cream and Onion Frites.
The Bon Voyage Wedge Salad had iceberg lettuce, tomato, applewood bacon, pickled onion, pepita seeds, blue cheese, and ranch dressing. And to go with that (since Co-Pilots on the menu come in pairs) I had the Fig Berry Goat Cheese Spread with garlic toast points for dipping.
Many menu options came with creative ingredients, making them live up to the “fancy” name. For example Seas the Flavor is a seafood dip with shrimp and lump crab. When Pigs Fly is a dish of mini pork shanks served with bbq sauce. And the Cloud Nine Flatbread boasts hand-whipped alfredo, cauliflower, crispy potato, caramelized onion, and truffle oil.
The First Class Section has even fancier treats like Freshwater Prawn, Coq Au Fromage, and New Zealand Lollipop Lamb Chop.
Just as much thought was put into the creation of craft cocktails, with names like the Desert Mirage, French Riviera, Storm Cloud, and Explorers Elixir. Flights of Fancy even has flights of beer, wine, alcoholic coffee, and mimosas.
The elevated menu and drink options, plus the adorably-themed decor make Flights of Fancy a delightful destination.
