Details Shared in Road Rage Shooting of Door Dash Driver in Ferndale, Suspect Charged
(Crystal A. Proxmire, April 12, 2025)
Ferndale, Mich.— The Ferndale Police Department has arrested three suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of a Door Dash delivery driver that occurred in the early hours of March 9, 2025.
At approximately 1:45 a.m., Ferndale Police dispatch received a report of shots fired near the intersection of Woodward Avenue and 8 Mile. Just minutes later, a second caller reported an individual lying outside a Ford Escape on the southbound Woodward Avenue bridge over 8 Mile.
Responding officers located Mamadou Diallo, a 26-year-old Detroit resident originally from Senegal. Diallo had sustained a gunshot wound to his torso and was found lying outside of his vehicle. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Through further investigation, officers determined that Diallo was working as a Door Dash delivery driver. At approximately 1:45 a.m., he picked up an order from White Castle at 21400 Woodward Ave. Diallo left the restaurant, merged northbound onto Woodward Avenue, and then entered a turnaround south of Wordsworth Avenue to head southbound.
As Diallo merged onto southbound Woodward Avenue, a GMC truck speeding recklessly nearly collided with his vehicle before abruptly switching lanes. Upon reaching 8 Mile, the driver of the truck slowed down, waiting for Diallo to catch up. It is at this point investigators believe that six gunshots were fired from the suspect vehicle at Diallo’s car in an apparent road rage incident.
“This was a senseless act of violence that took the life of an innocent man who was simply working to make ends meet,” said Ferndale Police Chief Dennis Emmi. “Our investigators worked swiftly to gather evidence and identify those responsible. This case demonstrates how dedicated police work and strong community partnerships can bring justice to the victim and his family. We are grateful for the assistance of the FBI’s Oakland County Gang and Violent Crime Task Force, whose cooperation was key in resolving this case. We extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Diallo’s family.”
On April 8, 2025, three suspects were taken into custody by Ferndale Police with assistance from the FBI’s Oakland County Gang and Violent Crime Task Force. At this time, two of the individuals have been released pending further investigation, while the remaining suspect has been charged and arraigned.
On April 10 2025, the one suspect was arraigned before 43rd District Court Magistrate Brennan on the following charges:

• Homicide – Murder – Second Degree, 1 Count, felony
