OC Restaurant Quest: Gold Star Family Restaurant in Rochester Hills

Rochester Hills, MI – The quest to try every restaurant in Oakland County continues with a visit to Gold Star Family Restaurant in Rochester Hills. This family diner has comfy booths and an even more comforting menu, full of hearty breakfast and lunchtime options.
I stopped in for breakfast, enjoying a Vegetarian Omelette made with onions, green pepper, tomato, spinach, mushrooms, broccoli and cheese served with hash browns and toast. I picked the cinnamon raisin toast. I also ordered a side of thick-sliced ham.
Since I was there working on a story, I also ordered a cherry danish to pick at while I wrote. The cherry danish was topped with icing and served warm.
There are quite a few options for omelettes. The Denver Omelette is made with bacon, green pepper, and onion. The Texan Omelette has onions, pepper, mushrooms, beef, and Pepper Jack cheese. The Detroiter is made with hot dogs, diced onion, chili and cheese. There are also Greek, Polish, and Italian Omelettes, plus other breakfast favorites like pancakes, eggs and meat, waffles and more.
The lunch menu includes a variety of burgers as expansive as their omelette list, including the Southwest Burger, the Mushroom Swiss Melt, the Bloomin’ Burger and more. Other options include spinach pie, kabobs and gyros, veal cutlets, fish and chips,and other family favorites.
Gold Star Family Restaurant is located at 650 S. Rochester Road. They do not have a website, but they do have a Facebook Page.
