Troy Police Give Update About Shooting at Corewell Health
(Troy Police, March 20, 2025)
Troy, MI – At 7:08am our Dispatch received a call from Corewell Health Troy Security of what was described as an “Active Shooter” in the parking garage. This was followed shortly by an update that informed responding officers that a victim was being treated near the emergency entrance. The hospital was immediately placed in a lockdown as well as notifications being made to local schools and daycares to enter a soft lockdown. Multiple area agencies responded with Troy PD. Searching and clearing of the hospital and grounds began immediately. This effort utilized responding officers from the many agencies that responded to the initial report of an active shooter.
As the incident progressed it became more apparent that this was a targeted incident between two hospital employees. The 25-year-old victim from Troy pulled into the parking garage where the suspect arrived shortly after. The suspect fired at least five shots from a handgun, two striking the victim in the arm, with others striking the victim’s vehicle.
Simultaneously to the scene at the hospital the investigation led officers to a residence in Macomb Township where the suspect was taken into custody, without incident, shortly after 9:30 am. The Macomb County Sheriffs Office led that scene and the suspect exited his home voluntarily after contact was made via cell phone.
We would like to thank all of the agencies who responded and assisted with this major response today.
The Oakland Community Health Network is making its Resiliency Center in Rochester Hills available to those impacted by today’s events, additional information on that can be found on the Troy Police Department social media pages.
Corewell Health also asked us to share the following statement:
