Two Royal Oak Students Win Awards in C-SPAN Documentary Competition
(Royal Oak Schools, March 18, 2025)
Royal Oak, MI – Two Royal Oak High School students have been named award-winning documentary filmmakers in the prestigious C-SPAN StudentCam Documentary Competition! Out of 3,500 students nationwide, these talented Ravens stood out with their impactful storytelling and filmmaking skills.
Ani Ceccacci secured 2nd Place in the Central Division with their documentary, Gender-Affirming Care: It Saves More Lives Than You Would Think. Ani also won the coveted National Fan Favorite Award—a testament to the powerful message and widespread support of the work.
Wyatt Martin earned 3rd Place in the Central Division for Saving The Workforce’s Backbone, a compelling documentary on the importance of career and technical education.
Both award-winning projects will be featured in upcoming editions of the Not-So-Live Raven Report, airing on Fridays.
To add to their incredible achievements, Ani and Wyatt were both accepted to Emerson College in Boston this week!
Ceccacci’s video can be viewed online as part of the “Fan Favorite” competition at https://studentcam.us.launchpad6.com/fanfavorite. In a previous interview with Oakland County Times, Ceccacci said ““I struggled to find authenticity through other news covering this topic and figured the most important and impactful ideas we could hear, would be from those directly affected. The prompt for this competition was to send a message to the president about something effecting your community and that’s exactly what I did, I knew this was my chance to get my message out there so that one day I still have a chance of getting the Gender-Affirming Care I hope to receive.”
