OC Restaurant Quest: Yummy Shawarma & Grill in Oak Park

Oak Park, MI – One of the newest restaurants in Oak Park is Yummy Shawarma and Grill, located at 12724 W. 9 Mile Road not far from the Ferndale border. Serving up traditional Middle Eastern food, Yummy Shawarma is fast becoming a local favorite.
A friend and I met up for lunch one afternoon and enjoyed several items. We started with fried mushrooms, which came breaded and served with ranch and marinara. We split an order of hummus which came with soft and satisfying pita bread.
I ordered a mango and strawberry smoothie, and the Chicken Tika Chunks. This had squares of juicy chicken along with rice and a side of chicken lemon rice soup, though salad, fattoush, and tabouli are also available. My friend had the Chicken Shawarma Sandwich, packed with delicious pickled veggies.
Other menu options include chicken stir fry, house burger, kafta kabob sandwiches, and the house specialty which is potato chop. There’s also Jajeek, a creamy yogurt mixed with finely chopped cucumbers, mint and garlic. Plus Yummy Shawarma also has lamb chops and shanks.
Yummy Shawarma and Grill has a number of tables to accommodate groups large or small, plus there are TVs for those who might like a distraction. There is also easy online ordering through several sites. Their website directs to online Toast ordering, at https://yummyshawarmagrill.toast.site/
