Man Shot Multiple Times While Driving on Woodward, Ferndale Police Seek Info

Ferndale, MI— The Ferndale Police Department is actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the early hours of March 9, 2025.
At approximately 1:45 a.m., Ferndale Police dispatch received a report of shots fired near the intersection of 8 Mile and Woodward Avenue. Just minutes later, at 1:48 a.m., a second caller reported seeing an individual lying outside a Ford Escape in the roadway on southbound Woodward Avenue bridge over 8 Mile.
Responding officers located a 27-year-old Detroit man who sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Preliminary information indicates that the victim was driving southbound on Woodward Ave. when an unknown suspect fired multiple shots into his vehicle, striking him. Responding officers located the vehicle stopped on the roadway and the victim lying outside.
“This is a tragic event and our thoughts are with the victim’s family as well as loved ones during this difficult time. We are committed to finding those responsible.” said Ferndale Police Chief Dennis Emmi. “We urge anyone with information to come forward and assist in bringing justice to the victim and his family.”
