Donation Helps Fuel Troy Nature Society Program for At-Risk Youth
(City of Troy, March 10, 2025)
Troy, MI – 100 Women Who Care’s mission is women coming together to support local non-profit 501(c)3 organizations serving Troy and Southeast Michigan. A group of local women interested in supporting non-profit charities throughout Troy and SE Michigan together have the ability to contribute to the growth of our communities in ways they never thought possible.
The group meets quarterly and the first funds collected for 2025 will support the Troy Nature Society’s Nature-based Mindfulness and Science Experiences for At-Risk Youth initiative. This project will offer a unique opportunity for at-risk students who might not otherwise have an occasion to participate in programming designed to benefit their academic curriculum while also introducing them to mindfulness practices that support their mental and physical well-being.
Over a 36-month period, this new initiative will annually serve up to 700 at-risk 1st to 5th grade students enrolled in Title One programming, with a series of three complimentary programs each during three school years (equaling a total of 2,100 attendees). In conjunction with the organization’s educational project managers, mental health care professionals from Henry Ford Health have committed to developing and conducting nature-based mindfulness programming at the Stage Nature Center for this project.
“Indoor and outdoor instruction in mindfulness practices and science experiences are designed to enhance the participant’s overall well-being and support academic curriculum,” said Carla Reeb, SNC Executive Director. “Focus areas along the trails of the Stage Nature Center will help participants explore key elements of mindfulness techniques. We are so thankful to the members of 100 Women Who Care for this generous donation.”
“We invite others to become a part of this powerful group, joining other women who wish to have a positive impact on the lives of those in need,” said Nancy Hauff, 100 Women Who Care Co-Founder. “You do NOT have to be a Troy resident to join! Members nominate non-profits of their choice, presenting details regarding the charity at scheduled meetings.”
Nancy added, “Our questions to others: Are you committed to helping others but stretched for time? Quarterly meetings are less than one hour. Do you want to be part of a powerful group of local women making an immediate, direct and positive effect on the lives of our neighbors? Would you like your donations to go directly to a local charity? Would you like to learn more about the many worthy community service programs and organizations servicing our area?”
If the answer is yes, please join us for our quarterly meetings on the first Thursday in February, May, August, and November. All meetings start promptly at 6:30pm and end by 7:30pm.
