OC Restaurant Quest: Taco Tienda Mexicana in Madison Heights

Madison Heights, MI – Taco Tienda Mexicana in Madison Heights is a local favorite that gets packed with people wanting authentic tacos, tostadas, burritos and the like. It’s a small space with a few tables inside a Mexican grocery store in a strip mall of diverse shops that includes an Asian market and a Thai bakery.
A friend and I had the Taco Tienda experience recently when we stopped in for lunch on a busy day.
I had the burrito with steak, melted cheese, rice, beans, lettuce, and pico de gallo. This giant and filling meal is made with a delicious authentic flour tortilla with well-flavored, tender meat and other quality ingredients.
My gluten-free friend opted for a tostada, which is a crispy fried corn tortilla topped with beans, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, avocado, and pico de gallo. Guests can add a choice of meat to their tostada if they wish. My friend decided instead on a side of guacamole, to add to the green goodness of the meal.
Other choices include quesadillas, enchiladas, fajitas, huaraches, tortas and tamales. There’s also a nice selection of imported beverages.My friend grabbed a Grapefruit Jarritos, while I had the Pineapple Coconut Nectar Jumex. The grocery store itself also has many delights, including coconut candy designed like the flag of Mexico.
