OC Restaurant Quest: Crackersnacks BBQ in Holly

Holly, MI – My friend Dave opened up Crackersnacks BBQ in Holly just about six weeks ago, and I was glad to come up and support this budding BBQ business. This carryout spot (with a few picnic tables out front) is open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 11am until the meats sell out. They’re close to Fish Lake Road, where Seven Lakes State Park makes a great location for a picnic.
It’s easy to order – with meals for 1, 2, or 3 meats and a selection of sides. I got the meal with ribs, chicken, and brisket with mac and cheese and cornbread muffin on the side. They’re also testing out different cornbread types so I got to sample a candied bacon cornbread muffin.
I also got to test out a strip of candied bacon. I’ll start with that because it was one of the most amazing things I’ve had. Some places just coat their bacon in something sweet and call it candy, but Crackersnacks really does a great job of preparing it so the sweetness and spices become one with the bacon strip, and a state that is paradoxically chewy and crunchy is attained. Good stuff.
The ribs dominated the trio of meats – with thick meaty cuts that were perfectly seasoned and prepared. There was also mouth-watering brisket and flavorful pulled pork, plus a choice of sauces. They also have smoked sausage and cole slaw.
