Man Shoots Woman in Farmington, Takes Own Life After Standoff with Police

Farmington, MI – Farmington Public Safety has released information about a shooting, a standoff, and a suicide today in the area of Farmington Road between 9 mile and Grand River.
“The Farmington Public Safety Department responded to an assault in progress earlier today. Upon arrival, officers discovered a female victim who had sustained injuries. She was immediately placed in the care of the Farmington Hills Fire Department for medical attention. The suspect, after retreating back into the residence, took his own life.
At this time, law enforcement officials said the community is safe,” the department shared on Facebook at about 8:25pm.
“No further details are available at this time. Authorities will provide updates as more information becomes available.
Farmington Public Safety Director Bob Houhanisin, would like to thank the Farmington Hills Police and Fire Departments, along with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department, who played a critical role in assisting us with this situation.”
Earlier in the evening, at 6:12pm, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office had posted “Please avoid the area of Farmington Road between 9 mile and Grand River. We have a SWAT situation with an armed barricaded individual who has already shot someone.“
