Feb 15 – Fireworks and Flannels Event at Waterford Oaks
Waterford, MI – The first-ever Fireworks and Flannels event at Waterford Oaks County Park will feature free activities that promise fun for everyone. Presented by Oakland County Parks, the event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15.
It will include an out-and-back race through the park, horse-drawn wagon rides, live animals from Bowers School Farm, an illuminated walking path, The Art Experience, food trucks, a beer tent, and fireworks.

The race course will run along a beautiful, wooded trail with both paved and natural terrain. Spectators are welcome to cheer on walkers and runners. Cost is $25 for the 5K and $15 for the 1K. Each participant will receive a medal and T-shirt while supplies last. Register by scanning the QR code on the Fireworks and Flannels Flyer posted at OaklandCountyParks.com.

Beginning at 5 p.m., the beer tent sponsored by the Waterford Area Chamber of Commerce will open with free games and live entertainment featuring Christopher Briney and Tyler Soncrainte. Three food trucks will be available on site with cozy fire pits nearby to sit and enjoy a meal.

Take in the winter scenery by relaxing on a horsedrawn wagon ride around the park and walk the illuminated three-quarter mile path that leads to Lookout Lodge where the Art Experience will be located. Children can get their face painted and enjoy Tootsie the Clown.

The event will wrap up with a frosty fireworks display that will light up the wintry skies at 8 p.m. Bring a camping chair and warm clothing to watch the fireworks outdoors or enjoy the view from the comfort of your heated vehicle.
The fun kicks off at 3:30 p.m. with the 1K Run followed by the 5KFun Run/Walk at 4 p.m. During the Flannel Fun Run races, participants are welcome to run or walk while wearing warm flannel pajamas, a toasty flannel scarf or a well-loved flannel shirt.
Fireworks and Flannels will be held regardless of snow totals. Because of the size of Waterford Oaks County Park and the layout of activities, the use of strollers and walking-assisted devices is recommended, if needed.
The event is sponsored by CJ’s Upper Deck, Club Pilates Clarkston, Great Lakes Trailer Sales, McLaren Oakland, R and D Drywall, and Waterford Oaks BMX. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information, email SoncrainteE@oakgov.com.
