OC Restaurant Quest: The Avenue in Royal Oak

Royal Oak, MI – The quest to try every restaurant in Oakland County continues with The Avenue in Royal Oak. Located on Woodward near 13 Mile, this family owned diner has classic American and Greek fare in a setting with lots of booths and tables, and great views of the passing traffic.
I decided to feature both breakfast and lunch because the food was so good.
For breakfast I had the country omelette, filled with sausage, cheddar, and has browns topped with sausage gravy and served with biscuits.This also came with toast.
And for lunch, on a different day, I had the chicken strip pita with melted Jack cheese, lettuce and tomato with ranch dressing. I upgraded to sweet potato fries and this was an excellent choice because those were nice and thick with a crispy outside and soft delicious middle.
There are lots of good choices on the menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Breakfast lovers might enjoy pancakes with fruit, a vegetable omelette, or the New York steak with eggs. There is also a breakfast wrap with egg, cheese, ham, green pepper and onion. Plus there are specials.
The lunch and dinner menus have many choices as well, including soups, salads, and burgers. The Woodward Reuben has Sy Ginsberg Corned beef and there is a fruit plate with cottage cheese for those aiming a little healthier.
