Man Charged with Going to Caseworker’s Home and Stabbing Multiple Times

Orion Township, MI – A caseworker with the nonprofit Samaritas was stabbed in front of his home, suffering 20 cuts and stab wounds according to Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
The assault happened Jan. 22 when police say 34-year-old Gui Nabi Rahmati of Dearborn arrived at his caseworker’s home in Orion Township. The caseworker met Rahmati outside and was was repeatedly stabbed. Police say Rahmati also attempted to attack a man that stepped in to help the victim.
Officials said Rahmati fled the scene, but later turned himself in to the Dearborn Heights Police.
Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald has announced charges against Rahmati for assault with intent to murder and assault with a dangerous weapon. He faces up to life in prison.
The victim is recovering from their injuries.
