OC Restaurant Quest: Ye Olde Saloon in Royal Oak

Royal Oak, MI – I love that we’re starting off the new year with a popular old spot for the Oakland County Restaurant Quest! Ye Olde Saloon opened in 1975, meaning that this year marks 50 years of memories for this neighborhood bar.
I met a friend there for lunch and we both got sandwiches. They had the Cuban – a sandwich made with slow cooked pork, sliced ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard on a grilled sesame seed hoagie.
I had the Brisket Philly, a delightful sandwich with sauteed onions and peppers, mushrooms and beef with white American cheese on a sesame seed hoagie. Both were made with quality ingredients and care.
Other options include the Chicken Club, the Spicy Ham and Cheese Melt, and the Reuben. In addition to sandwiches they have burgers and South of the Border items like tacos, quesadillas, and nachos. Plus there are bar food favorites, like onion rings, chicken tenders, fries, and mozzarella sticks.
The bar itself is a fun place, dimly lit and quirky, with games like darts, pool, and shuffleboard. And of course plenty of drinking options as well.
