Failed Contract Negotiation Means Ahart Not Accepting Waterford Superintendent Position
(Dec. 9, 2024)
Waterford, MI – Waterford School District had previously anticipated hiring Thomas Ahart to serve as the next Superintendent. However, today they released an update, stating:
“At the end of October, we informed this community that the Waterford School District Board of Education had voted to enter into contract negotiations with Thomas Ahart, Ed.D., to be the next superintendent of Waterford School District.
“Unfortunately, despite earnest and transparent negotiations, we have been unsuccessful in reaching an employment contract suitable for both parties. We wish Dr. Ahart all the best as he continues to pursue a career in public education.
“Although we had hoped for a different outcome, we are confident this is the right move for our community. We remain deeply appreciative of our Interim Superintendent Darin Holley, who continues to provide steady and exemplary leadership during this transitional time. As we move forward, the Board of Education is thoroughly evaluating all available options we believe will best serve our students, staff and community. We will share updates as soon as more information is available.”
