Rank MI Vote Hosting Informational Events in Farmington, Ferndale, and Royal Oak
(Rank MI Vote, Dec 3, 2024)
Oakland County, MI – Ranked choice voting gives voters more power in the political process.
This fall, statewide group Rank MI Vote hosted 40 town halls in 40 days all over the state to talk about how ranked choice voting can overcome excessive partisanship and give voters more power in Michigan.
Due to high demand following the November election, the group is kicking off another town hall series to engage more voters.
“Voters across the political spectrum agree on one thing: polarization is out of control and our representatives are spending more energy fighting each other than working for us,” said Ron Zimmerman, executive director of Rank MI Vote.
“Ranked choice voting offers solutions to political division and policy gridlock. Our second town hall series gives voters a chance to learn more and get engaged in the movement.”
In recent years, Rank MI Vote successfully led ballot proposals in Royal Oak, Ann Arbor, East Lansing, and Kalamazoo to allow ranked choice voting in local elections. At the town halls, voters will learn how a ranked choice voting system in statewide elections can help overcome the political divisiveness, polarization, and “culture wars” often associated with the Democratic and Republican parties, candidates, and messaging.
