Orion Twp Swearing In Seats Five Officials in New Positions
(Lara Mossa, Nov. 23, 2024)
Orion Township, MI – Seven officials took the Oath of Office Wednesday in Orion Township. And, of those, five are in new positions.
Julia Dalrymple, formerly an Orion Township Trustee, is the new Township Clerk. A high school teacher for 22 years, Dalrymple will retire from Lake Orion High School at the end of the year to take over as clerk.
“I would like to thank the voters for putting me in this position,” Dalrymple said. “I want to serve the community to the best of my ability.”
One change Dalrymple would like to implement is making the Orion Township Clerk’s Office a passport destination. Dalrymple also said she would abide by the voters’ wishes and continue to provide fair and equal elections. One way to do that is to make sure the polling sites all provide similar experiences, she said.
Carrie Hilgendorf, a senior actuarial analyst, will start her first term as Township Trustee. “As trustee I want to continue to ensure responsible growth within the township, especially in regards to green space and wetlands,” she said.
Hilgendorf has been interested in serving on the board for a long time, she said, adding that “It’s not something out of the blue. It’s something I’ve been looking forward to for a while.”
Another new trustee is Jack Lovat, who works in sales.
“I love my community, and I want to be further involved,” he said. “I’d love to be working with the Oakland County Sheriff and first responders.” Lovat referred to the possibility of adding a new liaison position to do this. In addition, he wants to maintain safety paths and preserve protected land. “A lot of the people like what we have going on,” he said. “A lot of residents on the campaign trail said parks and recreation is a big reason they moved here.” Lovat also serves as the board representation to the Planning Commission.
Matt Pfeiffer was sworn in as Treasurer. Previously he served as a Trustee. Mike Flood was re-elected to his Trustee position, and Trustee John Carson is new to the board.
Supervisor Chris Barnett, who was unopposed in his bid for re-election, also took the oath of office.
