Woman Killed in Crash on Dixie Highway Wednesday Failed to Stop at Sign

Springfield Township, MI – A 34-year-old Groveland Township woman was fatally injured Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash on Dixie Highway in Springfield Township.
Renee Marie Vilders was operating a 2023 Chevrolet Equinox east on Holly Road at 9:30 p.m. when she failed to stop at the stop sign for Dixie Highway.
Her vehicle struck a 2023 GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by a 64-year-old Groveland Township man that was northbound on Dixie Highway. Both vehicles ended up off the road and into some trees. The Equinox came to rest on its side against the trees. Vilders was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck and his 61-year- old passenger were both taken to the hospital by Springfield Township and Groveland Township Fire Department paramedics. They were listed in stable condition. All parties in both vehicles were wearing seatbelts. An autopsy for the Equinox driver is pending. Alcohol use is unknown. The incident is being investigated by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit.
