OC Restaurant Quest: California Pizza Kitchen

Ann Arbor, Clinton Twp, Novi, and Troy, MI – While California Pizza Kitchen is a chain, there are only four locations in Michigan, making it a treat for those in the areas of Ann Arbor, Clinton Township, Novi, and Troy. The company did announce just days ago that they are going to begin franchising. So it makes a feature all the more timely.
I got my pie from California Pizza Kitchen in Ann Arbor, enjoying The Original BBQ Chiecken Pizza. This pizza has been a classic at CPK since 1985. There are a number of pizza options – which can also be ordered gluten free.
The Wild Mushroom Pizza has shaved cremini mushrooms, extra virgin olive oil, fresh garlic, slivered scallions, and cracked black pepper with Romano and mozzarella.
The Carne Asada Pizza has charred grilled steak with cilantro pesto, shaved poblano, yellow onion, fresh cilantro, mozzarella and Monterey Jack served with salsa verde.
And the Thai Chicken Pizza is made with Thai peanut sauce, mozzarella, crisp bean sprouts, julienne carrots, slivers scallions, and fresh cilantro.
California Pizza Kitchen has more than pizza. There is a selection of salads as well as a number of entrees including cedar plank salmon, chicken piccata, braised short rib ragu, kung pao spaghetti, shrimp scampi zucchini and more.
There’s also dessert. I had the butter cake with ice cream and strawberry topping. One might also enjoy red velvet cake, cinnamon apple cobbler, key lime pie, Belgian chocolate souffle cake, or choose from the list of cookies.
