“Voters want more choices; they are sick of choosing between the lesser of two evils,” said Ron Zimmerman, executive director of Rank MI Vote. “Ranked choice voting is gaining momentum to give voters better representation and build more effective political coalitions.”
The events are sponsored by Rank MI Vote, which has successfully led ballot proposals in Ann Arbor, Kalamazoo and East Lansing to allow ranked choice voting in local elections. At the town halls, citizens will learn from Rank MI Vote know how a ranked choice voting system in statewide elections can help overcome political divisiveness, polarization, and “culture wars” often associated with the Democratic and Republican parties, candidates, and messaging.
