(Berkley Schools, Oct. 10, 2024)
Berkley, MI -The Berkley School District extends a warm welcome to Jonathan Heger, newly appointed School Board Member. After interviews with three candidates and discussion by the current School Board, Mr. Heger was selected as the new School Board Trustee at the September 26, 2024 Board of Education Special Meeting. Mr. Heger is a purchasing manager for Ford and a 16-year resident of Berkley. He has been active in the School District and community, including being a founder of the Pattengill Dad’s Club, chairing the committee that advocated for the 2023 Bond and a Board member on the South Oakland County Soccer club. Mr. Heger has three children in the Berkley School District who attend Pattengill Elementary School and Anderson Middle School.
Roger Blake, School Board President, said, “The Board is pleased to welcome Jon Heger to the Board of Education. His commitment to the Berkley School District will certainly be an asset to the Board and the community. We commend his willingness to serve for a three-month term.”
Jon Heger said, “I am honored to have been selected as a Trustee of the Berkley School Board from amongst a highly qualified group of candidates. I look forward to working with such a talented and dedicated Board and administration for the benefit of the District.”
The Board position became vacant after Trustee Ron Justice submitted his resignation just shy of his term ending December 31, 2024. Mr. Justice served as a Board member for the last 13 years and moved outside of the Berkley School District boundaries in September.
Mr. Heger will serve until December 31, 2024.
