Sept 28 – Rochester Community Schools Foundation Hometown Hustle 5K
ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Rochester Community Schools Foundation invites individuals of all ages to participate in the Hometown Hustle 5K and one-mile color fun run, presented by Chief Financial Credit Union. The event takes place on Saturday, Sept. 28, with the opening ceremony beginning at 8 a.m. at CFCU headquarters, 200 Diversion Street in downtown Rochester. The traditional 5K run/walk will follow the completion of the color run.
“We are grateful to have Chief Financial Credit Union as our presenting sponsor for the eighth consecutive year. It is a true testament to the value they place on enhancing partnerships to support programs and services in our schools,” said Bob Justin, RCS Foundation chairman.
Online registration will remain open until the morning of the event. Registration is $30 for adults and $20 for children, kindergarten through grade 12, and includes a t-shirt while supplies last, bib, and medal or superhero cape. One registration allows for participation in both the color run and 5K.

This annual tradition celebrates family and fitness. It is the premier fundraiser for the RCS Foundation, which supports student learning in Rochester Community Schools through scholarships, grant opportunities and enrichment programs.
Individuals and groups can participate in the event by running or walking a 5K loop that begins at Chief Financial Credit Union and runs through the historic neighborhoods of downtown Rochester, the Rochester Municipal Park, and the Paint Creek and Clinton River Trails. Participants also have the opportunity to choose a family-friendly, one-mile, superhero color fun run where runners and walkers will pass through clouds of color powder throughout the course.
“The Hometown Hustle 5K has become an unofficial kick-off to fall for this community. It’s a great way to support our local students while getting outside and meeting the community,” said Tom Dluzen, Chief Financial president and CEO. “It’s been an honor to be the presenting sponsor for the Hometown Hustle for the past eight years and start the race right here at our Chief headquarters. Part of what makes our community special are the many families who are a part of the local schools. The Chief team looks forward to ‘hustling’ alongside families and educators each year!”
Students, staff, families, local businesses and community members contribute to the success of the Hometown Hustle.
“Our partners enable the RCS Foundation to enhance opportunities for all RCS students in the areas of academics, arts and athletics,” said Joann Beydoun, RCS Foundation director. “In recent years, the RCS Foundation has provided funding to establish a districtwide orchestra program, enrich classroom learning, award scholarships, provide wellness training and resources, and more.”
“The RCS Foundation appreciates Chief Financial Credit Union and local sponsors, who recognize the value of investing in our children,” said Beydoun. “Together, we will continue to do great things for our students.”
