Gunman Shot by Police Sniper After Firing at Neighbor’s Homes and Police Cars

Farmington Hills, MI- Farmington Hills police responded to a domestic violence assault in progress at a home in the area of Middlebelt and 12 Mile.
The female victim fled the house and they attempted to make contact and intervene with the suspect who produced a rifle and opened fire.
The officers retreated and took cover and back up from numerous agencies as well as the SWAT team was requested.
It was learned there were still two juvenile children (the victim’s, not his) in the home upstairs and he was trying to break into the room in which they had barricaded themselves. They were able to flee the home and a short time later he opened the front door and began to fire again.
Multiple homes across Middlebelt were struck by his gunfire as well as the neighbor home in his neighborhood. In addition, multiple police cars were struck. A sniper from the swat team fired one shot in return fire and stopped the threat. Aid was immediately rendered to the suspect and he was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Macomb County special investigation unit will be taking the lead on the officer involved, shooting portion.
