OC Restaurant Quest: Kruse & Muer in the Village of Rochester Hills
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Sept. 9, 2024)
Rochester Hills, MI – Culinary experts Chuck Muer and Bill Kruse have a number of restaurants, but their first was opened in 1988 in a shopping center that is now called The Village of Rochester Hills. That popular place for dining and carryout meals is the focus of our latest Oakland County Times restaurant quest.
I got two carryout dinners from Kruse and Muer in the Village to showcase the creativity and high quality of the meals.
The Spice Rubbed Baby Back Ribs were a great choice, with ribs that were meaty and consistent with just the right amount of seasoning, and bbq sauce to add to the flavor. This came with with garlic toast and a small but tasty serving of mac and cheese, made with penne pasta and and a breadcrumb topping.
Another flavorful choice was the Chicken George Sandwich, featuring quality chicken grilled with teriyaki, pineapple, and mozzarella cheese on a fresh baked bun, with an amazing pineapple sauce. For this I picked broccoli for the side.
For dessert I had the Cinnamon Cookie Butter Cake, which was every bit as over the top sweet and delicious as it sounds.
Other Kruse & Muer specialties include fabulous fish like Jimmy’s Lake Perch, Norwegian Salmon, Lake Superior Whitefish and Parmesan Encrusted Flounder.
There are “pastabilities” like the Linguine Primavera with dried cherries, fresh veggies, toasted almonds, olive oil, garlic and herbs, or the Lobster and Shrimp Fettuccine.
There are also salads and pizzas, as well as “necessities” like House-baked Bread, Charley’s Chowder, and Provencale Sauce by the quart or the pint.
Kruse and Muer in the Village is located at 134 North Adams Road in Rochester Hills. Other Kruse and Muer restaurants include Kruse’s Paint Creek Tavern and Kruse’s on Main, both in Rochester, Kruse and Muer on Woodward in Royal Oak, Deer Lake Inn in Clarkston, Rochester Chop House, and Kabin Kruser’s Oyster Bar in Rochester.
