Royal Oak, MI – The City of Royal Oak has shared the following info about the annual Dream Cruise this weekend:
The Woodward Dream Cruise is Saturday, Aug. 17, and runs between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. It attracts more than 1 million visitors, and more than 40,000 muscle cars, street rods, custom, collector and special interest vehicles.
Here’s our annual list of ‘Dos and Don’ts’ for what is considered the world’s largest one-day automotive event!
1. Do remember it’s an alcohol free event: Keep in mind it is a family event and there is zero-tolerance for alcohol at this event.
2. Don’t drive recklessly: Reckless driving, including spinning tires or revving engines, isn’t tolerated. It’s misdemeanor violation and you could end up with a fine up to $500.
3. Don’t sit or stand in the median: The median is used as a emergency lane, so please don’t sit or stand in it. You can bring lawn chairs and sit along the curb, but please don’t block sidewalks or driveways.
4. Do follow traffic laws, even if you are on a bike: A few mishaps with bikes have occurred over the years. Legally you can ride a bike on Woodward during the Dream Cruise, but it’s not recommended. If you do, you must follow all traffic laws, which means you can’t weave between cars or ignore traffic signals.
You can ride your bike on the sidewalk, but you have to be courteous to pedestrians. It’s best just to walk your bike around.
