OC Restaurant Quest: Muncheez Troy

Troy, MI – Mucheez is a Tex-Mex restaurant in Troy with an emphasis on the “cheese.” I recently got a carryout and it definitely was super cheesy.
The Taco Trio gives the option to pick three different kinds. I picked the Beef Birria Street Taco, the El Pablo Taco, and a Supreme Crispy Chicken Taco. The Street Taco does not have cheese, but instead is packed with earthy, delicious cilantro and onions, with perfectly seasoned beef. The El Pablo and the Supreme were both covered in melty muenster cheese. The trio also comes with beans and rice.
The Munchwrap is an interesting choice. It’s a crispy flat corn tortilla with ground beef (or chicken if you prefer), refried beans, nacho cheese, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream on a bed of muenster all wrapped in a flour tortilla and fried. This comes served with salsa. While it’s full of ingredients, the cheese is definitely the dominant flavor in the Munchwrap.
I also ordered the Street Corn Bowl. This is a more simple side, featuring corn topped with butter, lime mayo, cotija cheese and chili lime seasoning.
Other taco choices include the Omega Taco made with breaded Cajun spiced shrimp, pico, and lemon-pepper ranch topped with muenster cheese, and the Pablo Taco made with pork, grilled onions, and lime garlic aioli. There’s also the El Gringo taco which has breaded crispy chicken with bacon, lettuce, tomato, ranch, and of course muenster cheese.
Muncheez also has a bunch of starters for those who have the muchies – like mac and cheese bites, cheese sticks, potato skins, Cajun fried pickles, chips and cheese, chicken wings and more.
