37 Year Old Woman and Dog Perish in Pontiac House Fire
(OCSO, July 2, 2024)
Pontiac, MI- A fire that likely began in the kitchen of a Pontiac home on Sunday took the life of a 37-year-old woman.
Lakeisha Arnae Moton, of Pontiac, was found unresponsive and lying in a hallway of her single-story home in the 600 block of Raskob shortly after 1 p.m. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
An autopsy performed today at the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office determined smoke inhalation was the cause of death and the manner of death was accidental.
Oakland County Sheriff’s Office deputies and the Waterford Regional Fire Department were called to the home when an acquaintance got no response when she attempted to contact Moton. Deputies and paramedics found the interior of the home covered with a fresh layer of soot. A dog that was in a kennel in the home also perished in the fire.
