OC Restaurant Quest: Ember’s Deli in Bloomfield Hills

Bloomfield Hills, MI – The quest to try every restaurant in Oakland County continues with breakfast at Ember’s Deli in Bloomfield Hills. This longstanding diner has been around since 1969. A friend and I went to try out this classic spot.
They ordered the Greek omelette, which came with the toppings mixed right into the egg and served flat. There was spinach, onion, tomato, and feta in this beautiful circle of golden goodness. The only thing to be aware of is that the omelettes do not come with hash browns, which must be ordered separately.
I opted for the half cantaloupe plate, which has a choice of fillings. The cantaloupe makes for an edible bowl, packed with cottage cheese, tuna salad, or chicken salad. I opted for the chicken salad, which was thick and creamy with lots of pulled chicken in it. The combination of sweet fruit, tangy mayo, and hearty protein made for an interesting lunch choice.
Ember’s Deli has a number of menu options, including a slew of salads like the Maurice, the Julienne, the Cobb, and the Ceasar. Soups are also popular, with Mushroom Barley, Stuffed Pepper, Chicken Noodle, Kreplach, and Chil among the selections.
They also have several sandwich choices. The Bloomfield BLT comes served on toasted Challah bread to give it an Ember’s Deli twist. There is also Hot Corned Beef, Fresh Roasted Turkey, and even a Vegetarian Sandwich made with three types of cheese with lettuce, tomato, onion, cucumber, coleslaw, and Russian dressing on rye bread.
The Steak Sub also sounds fantastic, with thin slices of stead, grilled onions, and Swiss cheese.
Other options include Stuffed Cabbage, Potato Latkes, and Burgers and Franks.
