Man Dead and Girlfriend Injured in Shooting Inside Pontiac Party Store

Pontiac, MI -A Pontiac man was fatally wounded and his girlfriend was seriously injured in a shooting Tuesday night at a Pontiac convenience store.
Darien Louis Bragg, 23, died from a single gunshot wound to the chest. His girlfriend, a 23-year- old Pontiac woman, was shot in the abdomen and is hospitalized in serious condition.
A 21-year-old Pontiac man – the former boyfriend of the injured woman – was detained without incident at the shooting scene.
The incident happened shortly before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at a convenience store in the 600 block of Cesar Chavez in Pontiac.
According to witnesses, the 21-year-old Pontiac man was at the counter of the store attempting to purchase some items when he was assaulted from behind by Bragg and his girlfriend.
The combatants fell to the ground, with Bragg and the girlfriend on top of the Pontiac man and striking him. The Pontiac man drew a handgun and fired a single shot, striking Bragg in the chest. The shot traveled through his body and struck the woman in the abdomen.
The Pontiac man then attempted to pay for his merchandise and waited for deputies to arrive. The case will be presented to prosecutors for review.
