OC Restaurant Quest: Rocco’s Pizza in Oak Park
Oak Park, MI – There’s a place in Oak Park called Rocco’s Pizza, and they’ve got a pizza called Kung Fu Chicken that is definitely worth stopping in for.
This gourmet pie is made with chicken, red onion, pineapple, fresh mozzarella, and sweet Asian BBQ sauce with just the right amount of spice to make your lips smack for a moment before being soothed by the sweetness. This was a true taste experience that pizza connoisseurs might enjoy.The dough is thin and has the flavor of olive oil, but is not greasy or messy.
Other New Jersey style pizzas include The Herbivore, The Brooklyn, Maui Wowi, Popeye and more. Or patrons can build their own with toppings that include meatball, roasted eggplant, fresh tomatoes, jalapeno, fresh garlic, chicken, pepperoni, black olive, anchovies, etc.
Rocco’s also has Italian-inspired entrees including chicken parmsean, spaghetti and meatballs and lasagna. And for dessert one might enjoy cannoli, cheesecake, or tiramisu. Rocco’s also offers up salads and appetizers. I ordered the wings with ranch, which were also good. Other choices include meatballs, garlic knots, and fried burrata which is breaded mozzarella fried and served with marinara sauce.
