Bloomfield Hills Schools Announces Rick West as New Superintendent

Bloomfield Hills, MI – On July 1, 2024, Mr. Rick West will begin as the new superintendent of Bloomfield Hills Schools.
“After an extensive search process that involved input from stakeholders across our community, the Board unanimously selected Mr. West to be our superintendent,” said Board of Education President Meagan Hill. “Mr. West embodies the qualities, experience, and vision needed to lead our district forward.”
Mr. Rick West is an educational leader with more than 16 years serving public schools in Michigan. He is currently serving as the deputy superintendent of the Troy School District, where he has worked since 2014. Prior to Troy, he served as the executive director for business services at Royal Oak Schools and as interim superintendent and business manager of Atherton Community Schools.
“I am truly humbled and honored to join the Bloomfield Hills Schools community as your Superintendent,” said Mr. Rick West. “This district has a tradition of academic excellence, innovative programs, and a strong commitment to student success. I look forward to working collaboratively with the inspiring students, dedicated staff, and engaged parents to continue this legacy and achieve new heights together. Together, we will foster an environment where every student can thrive and reach their fullest potential.”
West has a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan and a Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University, along with numerous certifications including the School Administrator Certificate from the Michigan Department of Education.
“We are confident that Mr. West will continue to uphold the tradition of excellence that defines Bloomfield Hills Schools, while also bringing fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to further enhance the educational experience for our students,” said Hill.
