County Approves Funding for Road Projects, Here’s the Full List
(Oakland County, May 28, 2024)
Oakland County, MI – The Oakland County Board of Commissioners approved funding to help complete more than $29.2 million in new local road projects during its May 22 meeting. Oakland County’s annual Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP) provides funding to Oakland County cities and villages for repairs and improvements on roadways under their jurisdiction. The program makes county investments in local roads, which is then matched with funding from Oakland County communities.
“Residents want and deserve better roads,” Board Chair David T. Woodward (D-Royal Oak) said. “We will continue to partner with our local communities to repair our local infrastructure. Together, we’re making roads safer, increasing economic development and strengthening Oakland County.”
For 2024, more than $2 million in county funds has been dedicated to the LRIP to make sure these projects happen this year.
“Investing in our communities is an essential goal of county government,” said Commissioner Ann Erickson Gault (D-Troy). “The Local Road Improvement Program offers a tangible benefit that the people of Oakland County will be able to appreciate every day as they are driving to work, school or their homes.”

The LRIP has driven an estimated $181 million investment in local roads across the county since 2016. In 2017, the Board of Commissioners’ LRIP received national recognition when it was selected for a National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Award in the category of Community and Economic Development.
“Well-maintained roads are critical to the residents of Oakland County,” said Commissioner William Miller (D-Farmington Hills). “Safe and convenient travel routes ensure residents are connected to as many opportunities as possible, creating easier access to jobs, medical care and education.”
The following table outlines projects approved, total cost of projects and the communities where the projects will occur.
