Northville Seeks Volunteers for Boards and Commissions

Northville, MI – The City of Northville is accepting applications for qualified volunteers interested in serving on one of several boards: Beautification Commission, Planning Commission, and Board of Zoning Appeals.
The application is available on the city website. To be considered, applications must be submitted by June 6. After that deadline, the Clerk’s office will contact applicants to schedule interviews with the City Council Board and Commission Selection Committee, comprised of Mayor Brian Turnbull and Mayor Pro Tem Barbara Moroski-Browne. All applications will be kept on file for future consideration.
The Beautification Commission meets on the first Monday of each month (excluding January, February, September, November, and December) with times varying from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Beautification Commission serves as an advisory body to promote and administer projects, on behalf of the City, to uphold sanitary and aesthetic standards of public and private properties. Individuals with a knowledge of public health and wellness, landscaping, landscape architecture, and botanical principles are encouraged to participate in the Beautification Commission.
Planning Commission. Applicants must be a resident and qualified elector of the City of Northville. Meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Residents with expertise in city planning, economic development, real estate, law, and architecture would be complementary to this board.
Board of Zoning Appeals Applicants must be a resident and qualified elector of the city of Northville. BZA generally meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. The Board of Zoning Appeals considers appeals to variances and exceptions from the Zoning Ordinance. The BZA composition includes seven regular members and two alternate members. Residents with experience in city zoning, law, and city planning would be complementary to this board.
