Several Injured in Outdoor Heater Explosion in Downtown Rochester

Rochester, MI – Several people were injured in Downtown Rochester Saturday evening when an outdoor heating element with a propane tank caught fire and exploded.
According to Rochester Police, “Tonight at approximately 8:45p, a propane tank outside of a business on Main Street between University and Fourth caught fire and shortly after exploded. Police and Fire units responded and treated three patients for serious injuries and several others for minor injuries. The scene is still under investigation but the cause is believed to be accidental. Main Street will be closed from Fourth to University for several hours until the area is safe again for travel.”
