OC Restaurant Quest: Yori Sushi, Japanese, and Korean in Novi

Novi, MI – The quest to try every restaurant in Oakland County continues with a visit to Yori in Novi, which features Korean and Japanese cuisine. The tiny space, located at 30650 Beck Road, does have some seating, though I got my order to go.

I ordered a Korean classic – Sizzling Bibimbap made with chicken, rice, mushrooms, and veggies, topped with a fried egg. It also came with miso soup and gochujang, which is a spicy sauce.  Bibimap means to mix, and the bowl has plenty of items to mix together before eating. This is a great way to have veggies and protein together, along with the comfort of rice and the rich creamy coating of egg yolk.

I also ordered veggie tempura, which was a mix of vegetables that were breaded and fried.This included onion rings, squash, sweet potato, and dumplings made with chopped greens.

And for desert I ordered mango flavored mochi ice cream, which is a small scoop of ice cream wrapped in a soft shell made of rice paste, served with cherry sauce for dipping.  This traditional dessert is a fun way to end a good meal (although to be honest I ate mine first).

Yori has a variety of Asian items on the menu, including Shrimp Shumai, Tuna Ravioli, Spicy Tofu Stew, Korean Spicy Ramen, Jajangmyeon, Cucumber Salad, and Roe Chirashi.

In addition to the mochi, dessert choices include Green Tea Cheesecake and Deep-Fried Cheesecake.
