Berkley Selects Nate Geinzer as Interim City Manager, Begins National Search

Berkley, MI- Berkley City Council voted Monday to appoint Nate Geinzer to the Interim City Manager position following the resignation of Matt Baumgarten. According to the city’s website, Geinzer will work with Baumgarten this month to make the transition smooth. Baumgarten is expected to work through April 19, with Geinzer starting April 8.
Geinzer previously worked for City of Brighton for six years. Prior to that he was Assistant to the City Manager and Management Assistance at City of Farmington Hills. He also previous served as Manager for the Berkley Downtown Development Authority. Most recently he worked as Interim City Manager for Traverse City for a period of eight months while they searched for their long-term administrator.

The hiring of a City Manager will be done in a public manner, with residents welcome to give input, and with City Council voting on the decision. More details and a timeline will be released in the coming weeks.
