Qualifying Veterans Can Receive Free Legal Services Thanks to Partnership in Southfield

Southfield, MI – Veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness can have access to free legal services thanks to a partnership between Legal Aid Defender Association and Southfield Human Services.
Veterans can receive help with:
- Homelessness prevention (eviction, repairs, mortgage or tax foreclosure, etc.);
- Consumer (debt collection, garnishments, bankruptcy, etc.);
- Family Law (divorce, child support, PPO, etc.);
- Public Benefits such as food assistance/food stamps;
- Employment/Unemployment law matters;
- Criminal Record Expungement and License Restoration; and
- Estate planning (powers of attorney, patient advocate designations).
Services are provided every second Monday of each month April through September as well as on December 9 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
This service is funded by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
