OC Restaurant Quest: PizzaPapalis in Bloomfield Hills and Southfield

Bloomfield Hills, Southfield, MI – If you like thick-crusted deep dish pizza loaded with tangy tomato sauce and long drippy strings of mozzarella, then PizzaPapalis may be right for you. PizzaPapalis has locations in Toledo, Taylor, Southfield, and Bloomfield Hills, with the later being the location that I visited.
For my first pizza there I ordered a specialty pizza called the “Gourmet.” This normally comes stuffed with fresh spinach, chicken, black olives, garlic and feta. I also added broccoli and green olives to make it extra veggie-tastic. It was an amazing mess, but it didn’t photograph all that well and sometimes I get angry comments from people who think olives are gross. So I was lucky that a friend invited me out for pizza there at some point after, so I could photograph the classic cheese pizza.This too was full of sauce and cheese that Chicago style pizza fans may love, with thick crusts and so much sauce that it can feel like soup.
They also have traditional thin crust.
Some other pizza options include the Seafood Combo with shrimp and krabmeat, The Meat Eaters Deluxe, and the Vegetarian. There are also wings, salads, pasta, and calzones.
For dessert one might enjoy a deep dish chocolate chip cookie, that comes baked in it’s own 6 inch tin.
