Highland Twp Fire Dept Warns of Tossing Flammable Materials After Garbage Truck Fire

Highland Township, MI – Highland Township Firefighters put out a fire in a garbage truck at about 8:30am Friday, Feb. 23, 2024.
Trash had to be removed from the truck and the side pried open so firefighters could extinguish the flames, which left visible burn marks on the GFL vehicle.
The Department shared pictures of the fire, along with a message of caution “Please remember to not throw anything flammable in your garbage as is it very dangerous for our GFL workers,” they said.
